Protect Your Ears,
Perfect Your Aim

Advanced electronic hearing protection for shooting and beyond.

Price: $1680 per set + TAX

Why should you use ear protection when shooting a firearm?

Gunfire produces noise levels up to 160 decibels—well above the safe threshold for hearing and enough pressure to cause permanent damage in a single shot. Custom-fit electronic ear protection reduces harmful noise while amplifying environmental sounds, ensuring your hearing is protected without compromising situational awareness. These devices amplify ambient sounds, allowing you to hear conversations and environmental cues clearly while blocking out harmful noise levels.

PERFECT FOR:

Hunters and Shooters: Maintain focus and protect your hearing from the impact of gun blasts.

Law Enforcement and Security Personnel: Stay alert to surroundings without risking hearing damage.

Tailored to your ears, our electronic ear protection provides unmatched comfort during extended use, whether you’re at the range or in the field.

Additional Features You Might Like:

  • Bluetooth Compatibility: allowing you to stream calls, music, and other audio directly to your hearing protection device.
  • Rechargeable: comes with rechargeable batteries, providing all-day power with a single overnight charge.
  • Digital Sound Compression: use digital sound compression to suppress loud impulse noises like gunshots. This technology is different from traditional noise-cancelling features found in some headphones, which typically use active noise cancellation (ANC) to reduce continuous background noise. Instead of ANC, SoundGear focuses on amplifying quieter sounds and suppressing sudden loud noises to protect your hearing while maintaining situational awareness. This makes them particularly effective for environments with intermittent loud sounds, such as shooting ranges. These are not the same as your typical off-the-shelf noise-reduction headphones. SoundGear are purposefully  engineered to protect your ears in these settings.

Our FAQ

How can wearing hearing protection help prevent hearing loss?

1 in 5 people experience preventable hearing loss due to noise exposure. Protecting your ears preserves the ability to hear the moments that matter most. If you’re frequently exposed to loud sounds—whether at work, concerts, shooting ranges, or even during daily tasks—you could benefit from custom ear protection. Signs include ringing in your ears, muffled hearing after noise exposure, or discomfort using generic earplugs. Custom solutions are designed to fit perfectly and address your specific needs. Repeated exposure to noise over 85 decibels can lead to permanent hearing damage. Custom ear protection reduces harmful noise levels without distorting sound, preserving your hearing for years to come. Whether you’re a musician, shooter, or swimmer, tailored protection safeguards your ability to hear the moments that matter most.

What are the benefits of custom-molded earplugs?

Custom-molded earplugs offer several benefits that make them a great choice:

  • Superior fit and comfort: Custom-molded earplugs are designed to fit the unique shape of your ears, providing a snug and comfortable fit. This ensures they stay in place, even while you’re moving.
  • Reusability: Custom earplugs are built to last, reducing the need for frequent replacements.
  • Personalization options: Custom earplugs are tailored to your specific needs, whether you need them for shooting, sleeping, or working in noisy environments. You can choose from different materials and features to suit your lifestyle, or have an expert guide you to the right decision.

Overall, custom-molded earplugs provide a comfortable, effective, and sustainable solution for hearing protection.

Do hunters wear hearing protection?

While many hunters do not use hearing protection while actively hunting, they often use it during target practice or recreational shooting. Hunting involves a lot of listening and observing, with minimal shooting. Hunters need their ears unblocked to detect animals, and there’s usually no time to insert earplugs when an animal appears. However, unprotected rifle shots can be very damaging to hearing.

For bird hunting with shotguns, more shots are fired, but shotguns are generally less loud than rifles. Despite this, some hunters accept the risk of hearing damage to maintain their ability to hear birds.

Custom electronic hearing protection is a great solution for hunters because it balances function VS risk. These devices amplify environmental sounds, allowing hunters to hear animals while automatically suppressing the noise of gunshots. This ensures hearing protection without compromising situational awareness.

Can ear protection help with tinnitus?

Often, but not always, tinnitus is associated with a history of noise exposure. When it’s associated with noise exposure, it can be an indicator of damage to the hearing system. In such instances, ear protection can help manage tinnitus in several ways:

  • Preventing further damage: Using appropriate ear protection, such as earplugs or earmuffs, can prevent further damage to your hearing from loud noises, which is known to exacerbate tinnitus
  • Reducing tinnitus spikes: By blocking out harmful noise levels, ear protection can help reduce the frequency and intensity of tinnitus spikes
  • Managing hyperacusis: For those with sound sensitivity (hyperacusis), ear protection can help manage discomfort and reduce the impact of loud sounds

Overprotecting your ears by constantly wearing earplugs can make tinnitus worse by reducing your tolerance for external sounds. It’s important to use ear protection appropriately.

It’s best to use ear protection in genuinely loud environments and consult with an Audiologist for personalized advice. We can help those with bothersome and/or chronic tinnitus.

Do babies need hearing protection on airplanes?

It is recommended that babies use hearing protection on airplanes.

According to the Canadian Acoustical Association, noise levels inside the cabin of commercial aircraft during cruising typically range from 75 to 85 decibels (dB). This includes the combined noise from engines, airflow, and air conditioning systems. During takeoff and landing, these phases are generally louder, with noise levels inside the cabin reaching up to 105 dB. This is due to the increased engine power and airflow during these critical phases of flight.

Infants and newborns have significantly smaller ear canals compared to adults, making them more sensitive to loud sounds. Ear protection for infants and ear protection for newborns is recommended when exposed to noise levels above 60 decibels (dB). To protect infants’ hearing, it is advisable to use earmuffs or noise-canceling headphones designed for babies when they are exposed to loud environments.

Ensuring that infants are protected from excessive noise can help safeguard their hearing and overall development.

Which provides better hearing protection, plugs or muffs?

The choice between earplugs and earmuffs for hearing protection really depends on the situation:

  • Earplugs are small and fit directly into the ear canal. They are great for situations where you need a high level of noise reduction, such as in very loud environments like concerts or industrial settings. They are also more portable and can be worn with other protective gear like helmets.
  • Earmuffs cover the entire ear and are often more comfortable for extended wear. They are ideal for environments where you need to frequently put on and take off your hearing protection, such as in a workshop or shooting range. Earmuffs can also provide a more consistent level of protection since they are less likely to be improperly fitted compared to non-custom earplugs.

Ultimately, the best choice depends on your specific needs and the environment in which you’ll be using them. Sometimes, using both together can offer the highest level of protection in cases where double ear protection is necessary to ensure hearing safety.
